1905 stock

Hi All,
Can any of you tell me will a 1903 stock fit or be made to fit a 1905 action? I was thinking about buying a hatchers inletted stock.
Thanks, K

Yes, it will fit, as you can see here:

Interesting "patina/colour", kuduae.

Appears to be an early MS stock ('bag' grip), well seasoned and with a couple of pins through it.

Re: 1905 stock

Bought that stock some time ago as I needed a replacement. The black discolorations are quite often seen in Germany. They are caused by the guns being hidden away in most unlikely places for several years after 1945. As steel parts rusted, iron oxide impregnated the walnut stock wood and stained it black in places.

By accident I got another Mauser stock with the M-S stock and put that to some use too.

Now that is very nice. Good looking rifle & properly stocked for heads-up shooting standing.
Love the rib & overall Euro styling, but not so much the bolt handle. It's a little bit too "flattened" for my taste.

Re: 1905 stock

I have the 1905 in my hands after a little wait. I should have asked earlier, are there any differences between the two 1905 and 1903. I am just about to order a stock from Cameron and want to make sure I get it right! Are they exactly the same/interchangable?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Re: 1905 stock

Karamoja, the 1900/1903 is narrower in the action when compared to the 1905/1908 and the 1910 is wider again. But as you are finishing the inletting and Camerons pattern is made for the 1903 you will have no problems. Just maybe ask him to leave a little extra material around the sides of the stock where the action sits. Also remember he has two patterns, one for pre-war and one for post-war.

Matt.
