Barrel marking on the M95

I am going to need to mark the barrel on my rifle when finished, question is what are the correct markings for the Dutch M95 in 6.5 x 53R. as far as caliber. I thought I might engrave the caliber markings but not sure how they were spelled out. (if that makes sense) I am following the British style configuration of stock at least as close as I can.

Re: Barrel marking on the M95

The marvellous example in my custody simply says
256
below the Nitro Proved mark
and amongst the British proof marks on the barrel.
The rifle is an original W.J.Jeffery & Co Steyr Mannlicher sporter marked STEYR 1900 on the action.
Jeffery's full London address is engraved on the barrel between the express sight block and the receiver.

'Spose I should get some photos organized while sitting around in self-imposed corona lockdown.

Re: Barrel marking on the M95

I have three examples, Gibbs trade rifle, an un-named trade rifle and a an original Jeffey Sporter. All three only have the words 'Nitro Proved" in various places, as well as the normal English proof marks and of course the serial number. There are no caliber markings on any of my rifles nor are there any bullet wight or cordite charge markings. Both my Mannlicher Schoenauers do but not my Mannlicher rifles.

Matt.
