Dry Firing?

Will it harm a MCA to dry fire occasionally?

Re: Dry Firing?

Bolt actioned rifles, Ruger, Winchester, Mausers, Remingtons, etc, I feel there is no problem dry firing.
With wheel guns having firing pins on the hammer, again, no problem & good practice in double action
with shows instantly if you are squeezing the trigger straight back.
With guns having 'captured" firing pins, Double rifle, shotguns, etc, I would not dry fire for fear of breaking the pin.
I do not know what an MCA is.

Re: Dry Firing?

Perhaps a snap cap would be in order?

Re: Dry Firing?

Snap caps are better. What caliber? I could not find a snap cap for my 6.5X54, so I took a spent brass, and glued a pencil eraser in the primer pocket. Now the firing pin has something to hit, instead of peening itself on the inside of the bolt face.

Good move! some guys I know, use hot melt glue. Fill the primer pocket and let it set up - done.

This what I do.

Meant to add. I will use a minimum of 2 preferable 4. I leave the rifle at the shoulder and cycle all through, firing on each one to simulate field shooting.
