I will be remodeling a Dutch Mannlicher carbine that is a 6.5x53R, but am planning a caliber change. What other calibers were offered by the various British makers - Gibbs, A&N, Jeffery, etc. - that I might consider for my project? I think I might have seen a list, but can't seem to put my hands on it. |

I have seen several in .375x2 1/2" Flanged Nitro, which is a very useful cartridge. The recoil is like a .303, if you have a 7 3/4 to 8lb rifle. The cartridges feed well in the en bloc clips. |

As long as they are tight fit in their stacked columns - maybe? Likely not, though. |

I don't think the rimless cartridges will work. The en bloc clip really doesn't have a lot of tension in the center, and there is a definite "track" for the rims. One thing you need to do, is make sure the bolt face side of the cartridge rim has a heavy rounded bevel, or the cartridges will not feed at all. On the second round out, it will jam solid every time. |

it depends all on the clip in the old days 6,5x53R, 303 Brit, 375 NE Flanged and 7x57R (so 6,5x57R, 8x57 IRS and 9x57R will work???) the Steyr factory alone on this planet was able to change M 93 Mannlicher on stock for romania in 1914 from 6,5x53R into 8x50R Austria- Hungary with a complete different clip. this rifles are very rare today but I had seen such a beast for sale in finland for the 9,3x53R, 7,62x54R would work too in this. http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=197170&an=0&page=2#Post197170 |

You might consider the 303 Brit. I have a Watson Bros in that caliber, light, pleasant to shoot and feeds nicely. Best. |

I think the 303 would be great. After all we use this brass to make 6.5x53r so it works in the clips. I have one that is chambered for the 30-40. I use 303 brit brass so that I don't need to cut down the rims. Works fine! |
