Lyman 36 on a Steyr 1893?
|
|
I have a Lyman 36 sight and a W.R. Pape 256 Mannlicher on a Steyr 1893. What I don't have is a Mannlicher Schoenauer to compare bolt stops side by side. It looks close but I've never mounted a 36 so need some insight from the experts here. Can a 36 be mounted on a Steyr 1893? Thanks guys.

There are 2 versions of the #36 sights for Mannlicher-Schoenauers. If it is the version for the models 1903,05,08,1910: YES If for the 1924, 25 or any post-WW2 model: NO

Thanks. As luck would have it mine is for a 1950's or later. Doggone it. Anyone want to trade a 36 for an early Mannlichers for one that fits a 50's or later version.

A bit more detail. There are three models of the Lyman 36. The 36-MS was made for rifle models introduced before 1924. For models introduced from 1924 - 1950, Lyman made the 36-MS-24, and for the newer models made from and after 1950, they made the 36-MS-50. They are not interchangeable.
