Strange Mannlicher Bolt Handles

Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster.

In my search for a M-S to call my own, I've run across this rather odd example of customization:

Somewhat ungainly, but I imagine this was done perhaps to accommodate a shooter accustomed to the shorter bolt handle placement from the end of the action found on say the Mauser 98's.

Is this particularly common? Are there examples found on other split ridge actions besides the M-S?

Cheers,
Bob

This is a Haenel Model 1900, about as related to the M88 comission action as the Mannlicher-Schoenauer is.

Fresno Bob,

That's a weird one for sure.

More importantly, a warm welcome to the NE.com forums. Thanks for posting, and please join in often.
