Re: Hunting Lagopus lagopus in Norway.

Good report. Life is tough when you have to go grouse shooting straight after elephants. Bastard!

The ErikD family. Wife and kids You are a very lucky man to have a wonderful wife that accompanies you on your sojourns.

I know how your father-in-law feels. I missed a very easy pig in the NT, checked the zero on the rifle and it was fine, then stuffed up the safety TWICE on my .375, and the confidence goes down. Sometimes sh*t happens.

The sheep looked funny, at first I thought they were little lemmings or something. Then read the commentary and realised perspective is difficult. I am so used to all sheep looking like merinos.

Thanks for the story and photos. That side by side shotgun looks real good in your hands.

I think your confusion is because you Australians are used to only seeing sheep from the rear end.

They look like DEHORNED DALL SHEEP.

Congratulations Erik. I never doubt Norway is a great country. Still 23 years. In fact the landscape hasn't changed.
Seriously, it's really lucky to live in such a nice and preserved rich and prosperous but little populated country.

It's really lucky you are keeping aplenty small game. Not the case in most of European other countries.

Good Luck

Re: Hunting Lagopus lagopus in Norway.

JB,

What you say is for the most part true. But even here it is getting harder (and more expensive) to find good places to hunt. And then there is the problem of all the urbanites here who detest hunting, while sipping their cappachinos downtown pretending to be "Intellectual", and are always try to make things harder for hunters.

Going to areas where there are few, or no, other people is really nice, and makes one feel more alive then when in a crowded city IMO. I especially enjoy being up in out vast mountains and tundra, where you can see for endless kilometer after kilometer.

Re: Hunting Lagopus lagopus in Norway.

Erik

We have less wild areas in France, and more f....ing citydwellers doing their best to prevent us from hunting.

This week 15 representants (from the current right majority) wanted hunting (with horses and hounds, > 300 packs in France)to be illegal, same bullshit as in the UK.
Sure the lefties are partly against hunting but from the right wing it's real treachery.
Today I was presented a regulation project concerning the processing of game meat. It's from the European C, what You haven't to fear in Norway but no so for CCHUNTER.
It's appaling. The process is so complex that we'll think twice before shooting any game. Tonight we'll have a crisis board meeting to decide what to do so as to intimidate our politicians.

I wish You good luck and less administration.
