Re: Pictures of Heym rifles

Yes, there is no doubt about it. Heym rifles rate right up there as a true work of art. In another thread, a member whom I have come to respect through his posts made an off the cuff comment about when comparing Heym doubles to Merkel doubles, didn't see the value in popping the extra dough on the Heym. I have both and externally, they are both beautiful and well made. The difference can be seen when one looks deeper inside where prying eyes don't normally fall, and the Heym really shines brightly.....

The Heym is like a very fine watch internally, where the user can't see - serious high end watch collectors will know what I mean. Chambers are perfectly machined and bores are finely polished and mechanical function is as smooth as butter. Deep inside the action, there are no rough end mill machining marks, and the wood work is meticulous with no roughness internally. These are areas where only a gunsmith would get a look at upon deep disassembly, but the care in craftsmanship on the Heym goes right to the core. Is this totally necessary for a beautifully functioning and accurate rifle? Certainly not, but it is true craftsmanship of the highest order and this my dear esteemed forum members is what makes the Heym rifles more expensive and in my eye the better made rifle when compared to its contemporary competitive brands.

I will post some pics of my Heym(s) in a couple of weeks when I return home........

Mate, thanks for posting. Keep posting any that you come across. I was just admiring my Heym pin the other day, still wondering what to stick it on.

Nice old bull taken by a Texan hunter with a Heym in 416 Rigby. One of the most impressive modern bolt guns I have had the pleasure to use. Everything about it felt "right".

She could gnaw through that blank lol.

Those fine rifles in the truck rack? That rack doesn't seem to be padded enough for the $30,000 rifle!
