460 smith and wesson magnum hunter

hi to everybody
tomorrow I will come in possession of a revolver caliber 460 smith and wesson... the revolver is the model " 460 magnums hunter performance center" with barrel from 12"
has someone already tried the gun? to give me one impression of yours?
I premise that use and I already reload the followings calibers:
357 magnums
44 magnums
454 casulls

I have shot one with a 5 inch barrel---it is stout as to recoil but it is not overbearing--considerable more however than the 44 mag or anything else in that category..
Of the larger commercially loaded handguns for hunting--you have chosen one of the best.. read an aricle where the author put on a scope and had taken more than one elk with it--one shot kills actually a bit over 200 yards..or about 184 meters for you...

WOW... today have tried my 460 S&W magnum and I have to say that is a true bomb!!!
I have tried him with cartridges hornady 200 grs waiting for to reload..
with the 300 grs it has to be impressive

for now I will use the revolver for shooting and fun and a study on the performances of the caliber.... then who knows that I/you/he/she don't come in africa...gabriele

I owned the 460 with the 8 3/4" barrel. It was crazy accurate, but it was a bit to much for me on the recoil. It was without a doubt the most accurate handgun I've ever shot at longer distances. I'm not a handgun hunter, but if I was, the S&W 460 would be my only choice. You will have no problem taking game out to 200 yards with the 460. Good Luck with your new gun!!!

tanks e regard lucky!!!! is very great caliber, my revolver 12 inch of barrell..velocity 2400 fps hornady ammunition

I own a .500 S&W that I took a 2,000 lb old giraffe back in 2006. Worked a treat. Your .460 ought to do anything up to a Maserati Quatraporte with no trouble.
