Black powder muzzle loading handguns?

I was wondering what the situation is with black powder muzzle loading pistols, especially with the changes to legislation concerning handguns.

Is it the case the purchase of black powder muzzle loaders does not require a licence in Victoria?

In SA I believe a full pistol licence is required but was surprised when a dealer in Vic mentioned they are classified as antiques and do not require a licence ???

Any one who knows.

Re: Black powder muzzle loading handguns?

I think it is similar to Canada's rule.

If it is a true antique(pre-1898) it requires no licence, registration etc. If it is a reproduction or later made pistol, it has the same rules applied as if it were a Glock 10mm. I have talked to lads down there before and as I recall we 2 countries have very close rules around these.
