Anyone here have a Walther PPK/S?

I'm eyeing a 1978 German-made Walther PPK/S and the gun looks to be in great condition but one thing about it doesn't add up.

Every Walther PPK I've seen has numbers on the ejection port, usually denoting the year it was manufactured but this one has nothing at all inscribed in that area. All other markings on the gun match others I have seen but I find it odd that this one doesn't have the year.

Anyone here have one?

Re: Anyone here have a Walther PPK/S?

so here is my ppk

what you see here in the ejection port is not the year it was made ( but very likely it was the year this pistol was made)
this are the proofmarks of the proofhouse in Ulm/germany and they read as follow:
"nitroproof in 1966 in the proofhouse ulm"
the year 1966 is the year this pistol was proofed

such a proof is mandatory if you want to sell this pistol in CIP member state like germany. you dont realy need it for sellling the pistol in the united staates.

Re: Anyone here have a Walther PPK/S?

Thank you lancaster. The gun I'm looking at has the proofmark stamping and serial numbers on the frame, the ejection port is completely blank.

Interestingly, the proofmarks I have seen incorporate a number, such as yours whereas the Walther I'm considering has H1, not sure what that means.

EDIT: I have just found out that the PPK/S is not a handgun allowed in California. This is truly garbage!
