Oh yeah - that 4" for me. The 6" in nice, but the 4" is the carry gun. 4 1/4", so it is a standard restricted handgun here. |

We were discussing this briefly at the shop. I seriously doubt that we'll see anything close to the Python. Best guess is that there will be a Python-themed revival revolver with the lockwork from the new Cobra. No doubt we'll have one on the bench for tuning or repair. |

Quote: One of each would do nicely..6" for hunting.. 4" for everyday carry, hunting, fun gun.. |

Quote: I read the reason for the 4 1/4 " barrel is because of pistol laws in Canada.. Has to be over 4" Daryl??? |

Quote: I am sure you will see them.. Says in this article the trigger mechanism has 14 less parts than the original.. Another link I found on this for a review.. https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2020/01/01/new-colt-python/ If its anything close, they will sell a truckload of these... IMHO... |

If the frames and cylinders can take heavy bullet loads like the Ruger can, with the 14-twist these might end up being a useful field gun - if they're put together properly and end up being capable of good accuracy. I don't know how long that cylinder is or if the throats will be set up right relative to the barrel dimensions. We'll see. |

|
|||||||
And speaking of Ruger, they just announced a 57 pistol. |

Quote: Based on the groups in the one video shown above..shooting double action no less, I think they will do just fine.. I do wonder how much of the OLD Python will be sacrificed for keeping the costs down and profits up... |

RIPP, I'm thinking from what we've seen of the new Cobra, the overall profile (mostly) and the contours (mostly) are about it. This isn't to say it's not going to be a nice handgun, but it's not a Python. Call it the New Model Python or something like that. It's a Python-themed revolver. I'd like one with the longer barrel to work with for art and development. There's a lot of meat there to work with. |

Quote: Sadly I fear your correct... I will probably still buy one or two.. use them for shooting vs my original models who will continue to reside in my gun safe.. Another article that bounced up this morning on FB https://rangehot.com/colt-python-2020-fi...n_R_CUv8iDi__us |

Quote:Quote: Yes- that's correct. 4" would make it an easily concealable, cheap, "Saturday Night Special" (like my 4" M29) prohibited from entry into Canada, killing & suicide gun. 4 1/4" just makes it a normal, every-day, restricted handgun just like an 8 3/8" or 10" bl. handgun. |

Oh yes, but contrary to most people would consider normal, here only the guys with short barrels are dangerous. |

G'Day Fella's, Thanks for sharing Ripp. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Donuts! Quote: Hard to argue with you there Daryl. I just bought a new S&W M66-8 (.357Mag, with the revised crane lock up design), with a 4 1/4" barrel. So it is a bit hard to justify a new Python as well. Especially, when these are Twice the Price+ of the S&W, down here in Oz. Avagreatweekendeh! Homer |
