Confused by this.

A member of my antique firearms FB page posted this. I don't understand how the ignition system would work. It's not pinfire, I see no way to load it with cartridges, i.e. the barrels don't swing or drop, I don't think it's a muzzleloader. It looks as if it's part factory and part homemade. Any enlightenment would be appreciated.

Haj gun? Khyber Pass Gun?
Looks like the barrels have been filled with lead. The studs are for caps.
Rotating barrel muzzleloader. Slide locks barrel in place.

It's located in Thailand. That and the photos are all that I know about it.

To me, it appears to be a muzzleloader - of the pepper-box revolver type. The lever on the side is the release for turning the barrels to bring them to bear under the hammer.
It has been dry fired so much, the nipples have been beaten flat.
This type of gun was very popular in the States, for a while. Not very accurate and oft times of small calibre, but examples up to .45 are found.
Some of them rotated with the pulling of the trigger while others had to be turned manually, as-is your example, Casper.

Thanks Daryl, I've seen pepperboxes before and knew this looked like one. It just never thought about the nipples being flattened. But I seen no way to remove or insert those "nipples" All firearm nipples that I've seen had something that a wrench could grab to tighten and loosen.

I know what you are talking about. It is quite possible due to the miss use this gun has seen, the flats for a wrench have been turned round and that evidence is hidden by the rust. Hard to say for sure, due to poorly focused pictures and not having the piece in my hands.

It clearly looks like a hand made/Khyber Pass type of pistol, made for "tourist/local" market
Unable to make a ratchet for cylinder rotation the side "lock" a good home made substitute
Trigger/hammer/guard all home made, probably not "antique"
