I have to wonder what it would be like with a long enough barrel to burn some of that powder that is being wasted in that fireball?

The .460 S&W Magnum was enough for me.

A friend of mine has a .460 and .500, says the .460 is actually worse. Described his XVR as being worse than his .45-70 BFR with LeverEvolution ammo. After my .45-70 Contender, I'm not sure I want to try a .460 if it's that much worse.

Re: Happy girl shooting S&W 500 Mag--ONE handed...

While plinking at the local R&G club range, a fellow and his wife showed up - with several pistols and revolvers. The one that got my attention was an 8", 8 1/2" or 8 3/8" or whatever it is, in .500 S&W Mag.

I had the little round-butt grips on my 4" M29 and was running through some old ammo- AL7 loads with 275SWC at 1,210fps as well as some top end 300gr. FMJ's with H110 or W296(same thing), not only the web, but the palm as well.

Those 300's were down-right stinging loads to shoot.
I then fired a few rounds through the guy's .500 and by
juniper, it kicked less than my .44. He said that would be the case, but until I fired it, I didn't believe him. Nice gun!

Of course, with the standard square grips, the .44 is really easy shooting.
