And unlike conventional life insurance..you only pay for it once..

For once, a new pistol that seems to be a step forward. The ergonomics of the original Model 51 were exemplary. Its slim design and (probable) light weight should ensure a good market for it. Recoil in the .40 S&W version might be interesting....

As to the .40, I was thinking the same thing...the design lends itself to be a good concealed carry gun...looking forward to testing one out...

I am skeptical of Remington's quality - have had bad experiences with their ammo and their rifles over the past twelve years. But I'll buy one of these for the heck of it. At well below $ 400, its going to be OK to buy one and shoot it a bit.

I have never had any issues with their ammo but definitely feel the quality of their firearms have deteriorated. Plan to get one as well..for that price..if its doesn’t work can always sell it or make a trade for some illegal substance on a back street in Chicago..

I read this review on the R51 a couple of days ago. Not a ringing endorsement:

The review doesn't surprise me ...personally dont feel Remington has put out much for quality in a very long time..and I have now spoken to several that have seen one of these close up..none were overly impressed...agree with the author--I'll take a P7..

What does surprise me is the whining about how the gun hurts shooting a 9mm...I have shot many of 9mm and have never had one that "hurts" my hand..firing it from recoil...

I couldn't take anything seriously said by anyone who'd complain about the recoil of a 9x19 anything.

Really now.

I agree--my initial thought was he must have tripped on the way out the door and fell on his wife's hormone replacement syringe...

Re: NEW Remington R51 sub-compact..

It weighs too much, it has no rail, it has low magazine capacity and it's made by Remington who have not made a good handgun since the SA days, a good rifle since the 721/2 and a good shotgun since the 870. They are also in NY state paying taxes to help support one of the most corrupt anti-gun governments in the USA.

When they pack up and move, like MagPul and get something like QC back, I might consider one of their guns.

The lottery is open on which state will collapse first: NY, CA or IL. When the riots start, I'd feel a lot better with my 9x19 Glock.
