Not Likely Practical but Interesting Nevertheless

Italian gunmaker builds a double barreled 1911 pistol.

That is amazingly stupid, yet I have an overwhelming desire to own one.

This would be ideal for the IPSC shooter who wants to set the World record for a double tap.

I really liked my ported 1911. Should never have sold it. My best time was 6 falling plates - 2 seconds, timed by a mounty buddy. For me, that was smokin'. 6.5gr. BDot and 300gr. FN was the load.

Charlie Sheen could have used one of those in "Fixing the Shadow".
I think having the grip the normal thickness would have been more useful.

G'Day Fella's,
Sorry but if One 1911 is Fantastic, Two 1911's has to be even Better! Actually, I agree with PH Madness!!!

Of course didn't think about the need for two magazines.
Would take big hands to shoot that pistol.

Is three better than two?
Kel-Tec P333AT - 3 barrel .380 ACP Handgun
After the IWA show in Nuremburg, Germany, we realized there was a high demand for multi-barreled pistols like the Arsenal Second Century 2011,” said Clarence Koalapee, PR Spokesperson for Kel-Tec. “George was looking at the monstrosity and was like ‘Hell, if they can do two, why can’t we do three?’ We came back to the states, got right down to work on a prototype. It’s a little rough around the edges, which means it’s practically ready for production!”

Clarence Koalapee? I thought Kel-Tec's PR guy was Elmer Roopoo. (And your post wasn't even dated 1/4/12!)
But as Ecclesiastes said in the 3rd c. B.C., "There is nothing new under the sun." Take a look at these

Folks ,
The 1885 period has them beat with the 2,3, and 4 barrel Lancaster oval bore and you don't have to worry about those high cap mags . Fire the first four just as fast - Jim

That is just photoshop, but funny anyhow.
Remington had five fixed barrels with the little ring-trigger Elliot .22
The Ruskie .45 is at least *real* AND a magazine fed repeater. I won't hold my breath for a Kel-Tec prototype.

Good grief. My entire right arm went into a spasm whan I saw that. I'd think there would be little need to actually load the thing; the mere sight of it would probably put most desperadoes off.
Although this quote from Mark Twain's "Roughing it" refers to pepperbox revolvers, there surely must have been similar dangers with those earlier multi-barrel pistols:
Quote:
"I should have shot that long gangly lubber they called Hank, if I could have done it without crippling six or seven other people--but of course I couldn't, the old 'Allen's' so confounded comprehensive....It was a cheerful weapon--the "Allen." Sometimes all its six barrels would go off at once, and then there was no safe place in all the region round about, but behind it."

Looks like something you would see in an old Warner Brothers cartoon.
