Ruger Bisley Blackhawk Hunter

Here's a quick pic of my Ruger Bisley. She wears a Leupold M8 2x EER. Nothing much, but she shoots better than I can. This is the gun that has just gotten me started handloading.
The gun can do better than this, but I can't do a whole lot better!
Here's my first try at 100 yard shooting with it. I've since taken a liking to plinking at steel so i don't have any picture of groups or of the "clang" sound. This group was 5 shots under 5 inches so maybe i was a little scared i couldn't repeat it! My handloads easily(soundly!) outdo any factory rounds i've found yet. They're pretty basic, no tricks or skilled work, just powder and lead.

That is some good shooting.
I had a couple of hand guns for awhile but with our gun laws in Qld it all got too hard.
My favourite was a Para Ordnance P14 45ACP.

Sounds like a .45 Colt and the 2400 is only a moderate load, but one listed for Ruger Blackhawks, I think. In a .44mag, it's a heavy .44 SPL load.
5" to 6" at 100yards is VERY good accuracy (my opinion) from an accurate revolver with open sights.
With the scope, I'm sure you can do better - either with a more accurate load, or with more practise - keep at 'er, you're headed in the right direction.
Way to go! Nice looking combination, the heavy full length rib and all stainless.

It is a .44 Mag. Not loaded too heavy. I think i've since made more accurate loads, this was one of my first times shooting it. I've got some much nicer loads now that are very pleasant to shoot and more accurate than me.
As i said, I really enjoy shooting steel so i havn't gone for groups recently. I should mention, the 35yd group was rested, the 100yd group was seated with my back against a truck tire and my hands wedged between my knees.
I know the scope i have is a high quality scope, but my eyes could really use more than 2x to get the full long range potential out of this gun.

Looking good Sean. My own .44's have prefered full charges with 245 to 275gr. SWC's, flat bases, all keith Style, square or rounded grease grooves, no checks using 2400, H110 and W296. Unfortunately, they're hard on my little Smith29, not so with your Bisley.
I've use the 50/50 Alox, LBT Blue, SPG and Lyman BP Gold over the years. All shoot well without and leading in my revolvers. The bullets I shoot are all .430" in diameter to match my cylinder throats & I shoot nothing harder than WW alloys - without zinc. This helps accuracy. Commercial cast bullets are harder and usually lead some as they don't obturate well to seal as-do the WW bullets.
