How was the muzzle flash from the 10mm? I like the Norwegian flag, nice touch but don't you need telemarking gear to be "correct"? |

You obviously have too much time on your hands. HA! Looks like fun - for someone younger than I am - oh yeah - that's you. Around here this year, you would not see any vegetation of less height than 7' out in the open. Not seeing much shining - as in sun? Looking pretty overcast- looks like more snow coming. |

Sharps; This Glock is a 17, 9x19. Muzzle flash is quite noticeable in the dead of night but the camera flash is worse. What can be seen in the pix is not what I saw, it was dark for me, with just enough light reflecting off the snow for me to see ski track and the targets which were dark wood chunks against the white backstop. Takes a lot of concentration to stay upright when it is that dark, but night skiing is pretty fun none-the-less. As for ski's, I have no idea what Erik uses! I've been a soft-booter since I started. I spend a lot of time off the skis when snaring so soft boots are sort of a must, and we have little good gear to choose from anyhow. I've gone thru three pair of ski boots this season. My skis are norsk Madshus Epochs. Lots of float for new snow. I've skied many many hundreds of miles and never skied a groomed track in my life, so all my jaunts are at least 1/2 trail breaking if I'm alone. Daryl, it was blowing and snowing hard off and on. Snow is variable, real deep not much farther up. Another recent jaunt, skied to the trees, then snowshoed thru up higher where I could get back on the boards. I wanted to check out a spot above my place. 5 degrees Fahrenheit, 3 feet of new snow. I Google Earthed it. Took me 5 hours to go 835 feet up in elevation and...only 5 miles! Took 4 hours to go 2.5 miles to the top and an hour to ski back. A total groin buster. BTW: I like the new Glocks a lot! This time at a flat spot. Here, Sharps, shooting the 10mm along the way. Had a failure to return to batery with a 22# spring so back to the stock spring. At the top; Home back in the valley. Cramping up and DONE... |

Gads - oh to be young again - HA! You're in good shape, Rod! TKs for sharing. Gone are the days I used to climb up Hudson's Bay Moutain, just for fun(and to shoot marmots with the .458). |

Quote: I was thinking the same thing. We had an Artic Warfare course that my unit did every couple of years, one course I didn't do but would have liked to. I wish I was 20 years younger again !!! LOL |

Ah, I asked because the 10mm is supposed to have a pretty big muzzle flash. Sort of off topic, I've got a box of the Double Tap 200gr LGC loads on the way. They are advertised at 1300fps out of a 4.6" barrel, I'm interested to get them over a chronograph to see what they really do. If they are even close to advertised, and if they feed well, they will make a good round for woods carry (my benchamrk is crossing paths with a cranky black bear). |

Yeah, right. Just was towing my gear to the range. Right close to home I just did a total face plant into a watery, slushy {thought it was frozen...} gully wash. If the folks that live up on the ridge had their spotting scopes on me they got quite the free show!! Audio would be a bit unfit for prime time TV... Soaked to bone. Now home changing clothes then back up again. Fun??? PS: Sharps; had my 10 with me, along with the chrono too. If I ever get out of here I'll let you know what it gives for my load. |

Quote:Quote: I wish. The course was actually called Mountain and Artic Warfare. They did it in the mountains in Aust - a far cry from most places but it gave the soldiers a taste of living and fighting in the snow - and it still gets bloody cold over here, just not as cold as over there !!! LOL Some then went on to do an attachment with the Royal Marines which was a sister unit and so did some "real" Artic Warfare training. But you have to start somewhere !!! |

G'Day Fella's, 9.3, mate if you go back far enough (almost 200 years), the relatives (on my Dad side) that came to Oz were Englishmen! So I probably fit into to that category!!! But I always reckon the Irish (on my Mums side), even things out? What do you reckon about this theory??? According to the calender, Spring is here fella's! So it can only get better for all you Northern Hemisphere residents but keep warm in the mean time!!! Doh! Homer |

Ha Ha. Forgot about this one. We have had some snow already, so it's getting to be that season tho, and I just put together my rifle for the snaring season. I'll post pix soon. The night photos are a bit bizarre as I was skiing blind and shooting at the black stump of which only a silhouette existed. The flash makes stops the movement of course but isn't what I'm seeing at all as I skied by. Fell alot going blind! Lotta fun, tho. As for brass, well, I just wait till spring! |
