Andrįs found his first beer, I mean his first bear

september there was a hard day for us when carl a magyar vizsla after 13,5 years and living 18 months with a painkiller had to go over the bridge to dogs heaven. if you don't know the hungarian pointer - once a vizsla allways a vizsla.
so there is Andrįs, now 16 weeks old. dog mother had her first litter of puppies, we call it the Wurf. here the first one is the A-Wurf, then the B-Wurf, C-Wurf and so on. Don't know if its the same in other countrys. Well, it was the A-Wurf and every puppie got a name starting with A and because being a hungarian by birth he is Andrįs.

Andrįs starts with first lessons and was on a blood trail before but making with blood and don't find a game in the end, only a skin

this time a raccon killed in a trap was used to make a Schleppe - a trail. 70 meter across the forest, no blood, only a odour trail on the ground he never smell before

there the unknown monster was laying on the ground

time for a great reward to make connection in his brain

he is in the beginning of become shot proofed so the little 6 mm blank was also in the play

some mobile phone pics showing how the raccon starts a little fight than ( with a helping hand) and Andrįs strike back

Welcome to Andrąs; I wish you both an enjoyable "marriage" full of hunting adventures!
No equivalent to the "Wurf" in French.

I suppose the English equivalent would be "whelp".

Re: Andrįs found his first beer, I mean his first bear

Lancaster,

Sorry to hear of your Carl's passing. These old fellows so enjoy their families when old, and are so loving and appreciative. Love their families so much. Not very useful anymore but they are retired and deserve being spoiled.

13 1/2 years, a good innings for Carl.

Blitzen is upset when he does not get his share of vintage matured cheddar cheese at the end of any meal. My little Gromment.

My Blitzen is now one month short of 13 and has been on and off arthritis medicine for three months. His back legs and hips give out sometimes, and even the front legs. Needs lifting into cars definitely the 4WD and tractors.

What a lovely little Vizla, is Andreas. I can see he is an eager little beaver!

What sort of hunting do you use him for? Boar, tracking deer, retrieving, does he point? Shotgun shooting over him as a pointer?

I was originally considering GSPs. GWPs, Weimarers, Vizlas as a choice of dog for hunting and a friend at other times.

Blitzen is to get a Donder in mid December I hope. Another GSP, a young boy. I think an eager crazy mad energetic GSP puppy will be a shock to both of us!!! Hard to get good puppies as every 'tard is trying to get a puppy now. To add to their vege gardens and TP supplies. I think I am in line for one at this breeder if one is suitable to me. Been waiting a year! But must get my name down at another SA Adelaide Hills breeder - where Siegfried came from - and the Victorian Euchuca breeder where Blitzen came from. The Victoria Berlin Wall has or is coming down now, so can possibly travel to Victoria.

Great to see your lovely puppy.

Lovely pup. Andreas.

Attila is not a name for a Vizla. Too beautiful.

Re: Andrįs found his first beer, I mean his first bear

welpe is puppy but its a diminutiv coming from wolf wolf = welp / p is the same as f so a welp is welf = wolf

Wurf comes from werfen in english its drop but I see the bitch also does welping in english. good old anglo saxon connection!
wild boar also does werfen when its time for the new frischlinge = piglets.

we wills see how Andrįs is willing to take his lessons. on a common blood trail for roedeer maybe 30 -50 meter long into the next scrub he had succeed yesterday.

Re: Andrįs found his first beer, I mean his first bear

today Andrįs had a new problem - when being on the trail of a roe deer he is searching the last days more than once a new trail was crossing his way. he was confused and we force him to hold the original direction.

the work was worthwhile and after 300 meter he found it

probably feeling good about oneself he came back with us to the point where he had the other trail crossing his way

great excitment over this and it starts again

what a day, another one of the bad, bad, racoons

and the racoon try to fight him again!

tomorrow it will start with the racoon trail and the roe deer trail will crossing his way so we avoid any wrong routine. what ever it is he have to hold his original trail.

Interesting training for tracking. Thank you.
This is something my bird dog (springer) didn't need. After the retrieving training, we just went hunting. We did practice retrieving, though. Even at that, very little training was needed.
It appears Andre is catching on quickly.

Re: Andrįs found his first beer, I mean his first bear

he is just in beginning of retrieve training, being a little bit to young and to small for carry any serious dummy. this is boring daily routine done by my girlfriend - take and give, take and give ...
, in the end is her dog.

making a trail is something more spectacular and you see how he enjoy it. the daily discypline and order training is more important but not so photogenic.
