Re: Assorted trout trips.

Good sized rainbow & 3rd up brown for such light rods.
All would be fun. Well done.
Next month for me.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

Very pretty water. ...and fish!

Some skill involved in keeping a hopper fly airborne with a 2-weight!

And brookies too! They're on my wish list.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

We have some pretty good brookie fishing here in BC, but they are more prevalent in Ontario.
Here in many smaller lakes, they are stocked.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

Interesting for me, pretty much a non fisherman. Trout is nice to eat. As is most wild fish. So much more flavoursome.

We've had trout wash up sometimes in our creek during floods. Someone must seed a dam or more upstream.

Thanks for the photos.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

Here's my 'best' from last summer - 3 1/2 pounds. The 2 Kokanee (land locked Sockeye) it coughed up are on it's side.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

Really nice fish on the light rods Mic, very impressive.
I thought I was "over the line" when I went from a pair of 4 wgts. to a 3. I've not used it yet, but both 4's have caught rainbows and cut/rainbow hybrids to 5 pounds.

I would almost think a 2wgt would cast 25# mono like a level #2 line, a 1 wgt. would for sure.

Cute little browns too.
Thin water can sometimes yield some amazing fish.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

Mic - what weight tippets are you using 2, 3 or 4pound?

Re: Assorted trout trips.

Appreciate the sun when it does come out.

darryl, I'm running a 5lb tippet. Generaly a tapered tippet shortened to 7 feet for the twig water. Keep adding to the tapered leader as its required.

Re: Assorted trout trips.

When debris is a problem, slightly heavier tippets are a must.
