Yes, I have to agree. Very tasteful and not too over the top, certainly a gun to be used.

I have an older version of that, in 470 Nitro... however, I feel the 500 is a superior caliber..

WR used to have their USA office one block from my office.. became pretty good friends with the father/son combo... we would go to the local gun range and fire weapons given to them to be sold on-line.. so we checked to make sure they were in working order and how they would group... Was always a good time..got to shoot some incredibly expensive doubles.. in all sorts of calibers.. from the small to the 577Nitro's...

Always felt the prices they charged were way to high which is probalby why they are no longer here.. but, was great fun to go over there during lunch and peek around...

That border treatment is very much like many Lancaster doubles I’ve seen.
Really nice rifle and nice to see a new build that isn’t over the top in the engraving department.

My ideal big game rifle. A caliber one can shoot when older and a gun one can carry when get older...and it will get the job done regardsless of age..

Daryl, get some balls! Every man should own one.

Got balls. Lack the funds, sort of. Too much travelling planned to spend that kind of money on a rifle that kicks too much for my old body.
You, however should buy at least one, Mat.

I am afraid that I am a worm with meager funds, no balls on a worm.

Ripp, very lucky to have had WR near by for some time and to be able to go and test fire many of their rifles which would have been superb fun.

The chap in the factory next door to me often has air rifle practice after work and I go over and shoot with him. Not quite the same as a WR double rifle but fun none the less.

IMHO, and experience..one thing about the WR..they kick way less and far more comfortable to shoot than the less expensive doubles...

The funds part is another issue..

Yes it is. Got that Aussie trip next spring to think about. That means staying home in the snow all winter, just to head to Australia for their "slightly" cool season. Should be fun!

Re: A very nice WR double rifle in 500 NE

My God, if a "fixed lock" costs that much, how much would a drop lock cost? I have owned two WR drop locks in my day, one a .256 (6.5X53R) S/S and the other an Ovundo 400/350 Rigby. I particularly regret letting the Ovundo get away. Recently the other half of the pair it belonged to came up for sale on a German web site (rebored and rechambered to 9.3X74R). It is in every other way identical to the one I parted with (minus the scope).
