Barrel sleeving and barrel lining

Excuse my idiocy,

But what is the difference, pray tell?

A sleeve would seem to be a tube of metal in regards to a gun barrel, or?

Lining seems very obvious......or is it?

Im thinking of a slim barrel tube, inserted into original barrels with space cut out.....

Thanks

Ben

Re: Barrel sleeving and barrel lining

"Lining" means a full length liner in the old barrel.

"Sleeving" means cutting off the old barrels in front of the lumps and inserting new tubes into the resulting "monobloc".

Empirevr, what caliber is the rifle barrel you want to have lined? In most cases lineing is not reccomended for high pressure cartridges. For things like .22 rf or small thingls like 22 hornet are sometimes re-lined, so the origenal barrel of antique rifles are saved. Some of the old ROOK rifles are relined to a more modern round like 38 special!

Hi Mac

A 12b double rifle with pits!!!

If im pushed to it i'll get it relined to 577 n for bp.

Dreaded pits........ruination of the double rifle.
