400NitroExpress

I'm sad to report that 400NitroExpress has passed away.

His wife texted me that he passed away in his sleep.

Some of you newer members of this Forum may not remember him but he was a prolific poster for a long time. For some reason he stopped posting a while ago but he was very knowledgeable, particularly on vintage British Doubles.

I first met him on one of the old DRSS hunts we used to do in Texas years ago and became friends. He was a great help to me in learning about doubles.

Godspeed Mark! (400NitroExpress)

Re: 400NitroExpress

I am truly sad to hear of Mark's passing. Though we never met in person I thoroughly enjoyed interacting with him on this forum, and I was disappointed when he quit posting.

We did have a few telephone conversations from time to time.

A loss to the double rifle community.

Such a loss.

Wonderful fellow. So very knowledgeable, and generous with information on the fine double rifles and their ammunition.

Sad to read of Mark's passing. He was a good and active member for a number of years.

At least passing away in one's sleep is a peaceful way to go. Anyone know how old Mark was?

Gone to the happy hunting grounds. Or the warm gun room filled with leather, fine books to read, and smelling faintly of cigars, cordite and gun oil. RIP.

Re: 400NitroExpress

400NitroExpress (Mark Cash) was a good friend of mine, and was known and respected by all the members of the DRSS (Double rifle shooters society)here in Texas! He was very well read where double rifles are concerned. He not only knew double rifles but could shoot them like a death ray. I saw him hit a running wild boar out at 150 yards with the first shot with his 450-400 3" double rifle dumping him like he was hit by lightening driving the boar's nose in the dirt flipping him tail over teakettle dead on the spot. That wasn't a fluke, he did that all the time. He forgot more than most know about double rifles and their plusses, and weaknesses. He will be missed by many double rifle owners, and has been out of the NET for some time now. It was sad news wgen I received the phone call that he had passed!

……………………………………………………..RIP friend! Mac
