Double rifle by Jean-Paul Ridon help?

My PH in Africa is looking at a double rifle made by Jean-Paul Ridon in 500 Nitro.

It seems to be made on a Verney Carron action. Jean-Paul May have worked for Verney for years. It has the three locking lugs that seem quite unique to VC guns. Gun is stamped Ridon 691.

Any information or opinions would be most helpful.

Re: Double rifle by Jean-Paul Ridon help?

I emailed Jean Paul and this was his response.

“Bonjour,

Cet express a été terminé le 25/08/2006.
Calibre 500 NE. Canons 60cms Lothar Walther.
Ejecteurs automatiques

A supprimer impérativement!

JP RIDON

Cordialement

Jean Paul RIDON”

Google translation

I emailed Jean Paul and this was his response. "Hello, This express was completed on 25/08/2006. Caliber 500 NE. Cannons 60cms Lothar Walther. Automatic ejectors Stock with reinforcement extended by tilting tail. On the other hand the red dot Docter, was not mounted by me !!!!! .. What heresy when we know Africa, the African staff and the conditions of use of an express of this caliber! It is also surprising that this little thing works again! To be deleted imperatively! This weapon has probably not hunted because it seems in excellent condition. In 2006 Verney Carron did not manufacture express. They bought the company Demas in 2008 and started to build Express. For my part I bought Paul Demas raw blacksmiths forges and raw frets that I used in my to realize my African express. I stopped the day Verney Carron wanted to enter a market they did not know. I now only manufacture bolt action rifles in ALL calibres including African calibres. JP

Re: Double rifle by Jean-Paul Ridon help?

Rell, Jean-Paul Ridon, a former PH, has been building bolt action rifles on military M98 systems for years, see his website https://www.jp-ridon.com ; I cannot comment on his products as I do not know anybody within my network that uses them. I was not aware that he had previously built double-rifles and this really comes to me as a surprise as I have never heard on the French market of JP Ridon doubles.
