Couldnt help myself when this showed up on Used guns. Payed for, PTA arranged and got components ordered for reloading. Gear arrived and straight into it ( already had a set of Dies , Thanks Aromak). Previous owner supplied load data so loaded the same. Impressed when it turned up. Better condition than owner explained. Cleaned and then out for a test run. Nice to shoot with moderate recoil. Both loads shot near on at 50m. Running 286 woodleigh PPSN'S and 286 barnes TSX. Arranged a hunt straight away and had success on some pigs then took it on a buff hunt. Impressed me from the start on buff with some spectacular kills. Goes well along side the Fat lady………… Heres some pics cheers Mick chapuis UGEX 9.3x74 nice wood regulation @ factory sight in / Frilled neck lizard loads First 3 shots at game 286 PPSN 4th shot 60m on run 286 PPSN TSX @ 140m X2 [URL=http://s1222.photobucket.com/user/264wm/media/P9111496_zpspvqxtypr.jpg.html] 2x PPSN on run first too far back, 40m 2x @16m only went 4 steps how he landed 286 PPSN didnt move 16m 1 TSX 30m 2x 286 PPSN 40m |

Looks great Mick. Good to see you put it to work immediately! Do the Woodies and the Barnes have the same point of impact? Great frill Necked lizard too! Cheers, Chris |

Congratulations on your purchase! It's a great classic caliber and very useful as you have demonstrated. We all envy your hunting opportunities. Curl |

TSX's are about 30mm high at 50m and 25mm apart. PPSN's are about 35mm low at 50m and around 30mm apart. Havnt realy put a lot of time at the bench, so could be me. Going to do some bench work with it over the wet. TSX's have been hard to obtain. Going to stay with them for buff although ive ordered some hydros, 286's to try. Still a nice rifle. Im realy enjoying its performance on game. Cheers Mick |

Fan of the 9.3X74R here. Very nice Chapuis with attractive wood, nice character and grain. Such added to your hunting opportunities is, seconding Curl, cause for envy. Nice shooting! Thanks for sharing, Mark |

Mick, So which kills buffalo better, in your opinion, the fat lady .577 or the slim man 9.3 ? Congratulations on your new rifle. A pretty impressive bag for your first hunt with your new rifle. |

Mic: Nice to see you put those dies to work. My 9.3X74R it really likes H414 with either Woodleigh or Privi Partisan's 286gr., using Winchester large rifle primers. Great looking rifle. Bob |

Very nice, Mic. Very nice indeed. Well done. |

Nothing wrong with your shooting mick whatsoever! Even the longest shots at the buff certainly did their thing. How did the 286 woodies perform on feral cattle? Maybe you didn't get a chance with those on a buff but boy oh boy they certainly punched holes in those big porkers! Well done mate - made us all jealous! Cheers 93x64mm |

Now that's what you call blooding a new rifle! Some great photos of quality animals, and a very nice double in an awesome calibre. Very well done Mick. |

Quote: Tried the PPSN'S on buff but made sure I missed the shoulder. ie shot for the off side shoulder to get max penetration, or behind the shoulder. They work fine. Unfair to compare the TSX. The mono's penetrate so much deeper. Ill continue running both, PPSN's for pigs and scrubbers , TSX's for buff. Cant wait to use the hydros. Definitly the 577 2 3/4 light nitro. 650 blue nose or 650 solids are hard to argue against. But I know which one I prefer to carry if Im walking alot. The 9.3x74. Heres a pic of recovered projectiles. Cheers Mick projectiles, left to right. 140m first bull behind shoulder, 30-35m best bull , 80m clipped onside shoulder recovered off side behind shoulder, buff behind shoulder , first pig 80m TSX 286 PPSN |

Hi Mick Looks like great fun. Nice rifle in a pretty much "go anywhere calibre" (though I am sure there are plenty who would disagree) 9.3mm will be my next DR I think. The more I see the more convinced I become. Missed a nice one recently. Westley Richards were selling one in their used gun section. A nice Purdey rotary under lever. It was only the lack of £10,000 loose change that prevented the purchase !! Great pictures. Enjoyed them, thanks. You boys up in the NT's sure don't go short of sport that's for sure. Love it. Ade |
