New large action Verney-Carron 47NE

I recently had the pleasure to see the progress of my custom large (600NE size) action Verney-Carron 470NE.
Jerome from VC advised me that he would be attending the Melbourne SHOT show and that he would have my rifle for me to see.
I had originally asked if they could build this rifle on a large action and shorter forend. They did have some concerns in getting the balance right but this turned out to be not an issue. Didn't even need lead in the stock like my previous one yet balanced right at the pin.

More photos below as they come.

Looks nice, what is the benefit of using the large action?

I notice one of the dreaded "weaver" devices inletted into the rib. I've been considering a setup including one of these, though somewhat differently placed. Do you know anything of that one?

oz,

Good work breaking new ground with VC using the wider action and straight chamber section on the barrels, the splinter looks good too. A classic big bore double........only new! Makes you wonder why VC even used the slimmer frames if they had to add weight to the stock.

The double at the bottom of the rack looks damn fine as well, that splinter looks even trimmer and slightly scalloped. Looks like a real working double without embellishment. Do you know what calibre this one is?

ps: is that a top strap I spy on your 470?

OzHunter, I had the pleasure of handling that gun, what a beauty as were all the other doubles. The U/O double in 8x57RS was also a ripper, but the most amazing was the little scaled falling block rifle in 22LR. When will your gun be ready, I am sure everybody will be looking forward to see some pics.

Sure was a nice rifle. I liked the 500NE above it in the rack. The blued rifle, but didn't like much the Weaver style base in the rib.....

Cheers,
Mark.

Stronger and thickens the forend nicely

Very practical for optics BUT not what I would use on a big bore "yet"
