Privi 7x57R 139 gr factory load performance

I have a Chapuis Series 3 in 7x57R. The Privi 7x57R 139gr load seems to shoot pretty decent in it. Has anyone had any actual first hand experience shooting white tails and Black Bears with this load?
I am curious about bullet performance and penetration.

what have your accuracy results been?

Brian,

I'm very interested in this, I have 800 of these in my shed awaiting a rifle to shoot them in.....

As for Prvi partisan projectiles, I can't speak for these ones, but 150 grainers in .308 do quite well on goats, pigs and fallow deer. Their performance across the range is quite highly regarded in the antipodes.

I can't speak for the Prvi load, but use the Hornady 139 gn soft point bullet measured at 2580fps out of my 7x65r and shot a fair few Roe and Red deer with it. No great fuss, but they just fall over dead after a few steps. Would nt expect any difference with the Prvi. Don't think there would be much difference in the two bullets - both big standard soft points.

Don't know about black bear, but if I was a bear I don't think I would to be anywhere near you with your 7x57r!

Plenty of Prvi ammo is used over here in other calibres and it just works well. Some rifles don't like it, but that's the same with any brand of ammo.

The Privi bullets that I use in my 9.3X74R work fine for moose. Deer aren't that tough. I bet they'll be fine.

The issue is there are bears and then there are bears if you know what it mean. I've shot lot's of 150-250lbs bears and that load should work great. The. There are a couple of 500-600 lbs boars I've shot that I would not want to use that load on. 160 Nosler Partitions would probably be minimum on those.

I've shot most of my bears raiding my uncles corn field in early September and the shots are usually under 20 yards and as close as 7 yards. The big lads are almost a deifernt species, smarter, way tougher and they don't fear much. The little sub 250lbs bears are terrified of the big boys and they tend to run like rabbits at th first sound/smell of danger. 12g SxS with slugs or the big 10g with 3.5 inch OOO work pretty well. 35 Whelen and 356 Winchester are perfect.

I would look for a heavier and tougher bullet you never know when you will run across one of the big boys.

I am wondering why the velocity is kept so low by prvi .I use Finn Aagaards old 7x57 load of 49 grains 4350 powder with a 140 Nosler or Hornady Interlock @ 2,925 FPS in both my 275 Rigby and my ZKK 7x57 Brno .No signs of high pressure at all .My factory Lapua 173 ammo is almost 2,600 in both rifles .A 140 Nosler 7x57 will break both shoulders of an elk at 275.I also have a friend who hunts elk with a custom 7x57 every year .He uses the same bullet the 139/140 Hornady Interlock (the old type) One shot kills every year
