By having a gunsmith install a flush mounted rifled choke tube to your gun, it would be compatible with modern slugs. Use a flush mounted rifled choke tube and it should be very accurate without ruining the looks of the gun. The gun was probably well regulated and I am sure you would be able to duplicate the regulation.

I dont have it, just wondering.
Its an antique 8-bore bored out paradox......wonder then if only the paradox part was bored out, correct? in which case, does that device deliver the goods???

Ben,
I don't think a choke tube is made for an 8 bore, but maybe a company could custom make one. They seem to work well with slugs.

I'm afraid that you would never be able to get 8 gauge rifled tubes, get them installed, and have the gun shoot anywhere close to the point of impact that it was originally regulated for.
That would mean that it would have to be re-regulated ,anyway. A better plan would be to use solder-in, rifled full length tubes and just figure on re-regulating it. If that is done though, it will make the gun lots heavier, depending on the new caliber or gauge of the rifled tubes you choose. The last choice is to cut off the old barrels, make a monoblock out of them, and put in something like 10 gauge rifled sleever barrels with stubs turned down to fit the new monoblock. If you do that, you have lost all the original collector value, but in the condition it is in now, there isn't any real collector value left anyway. By going that way, you could lighten up the finished product and use shorter tubes which would make the whole thing handle much better.

Maybe better just to stick with roundballs and have some great fun without all of the high expectations.

Well its the inner need to 'save' these old guns that grips me almost as much as my simple interest in them.
Balls would be fine, but is there no way of returning it to its former glory without any chopping or anything else too drastic?? I had an image of liners in my head........bore out a bit of metal and put them in, but yet regulation issues must turn up I guess.........I feared as much.
Its that blasted Holland on micksguns........you ALL know it............well, considering the prices on other 8-bore anything-other-than-shotgun guns, it appears a worthwhile consideration, no? I am in no great position for it at all presently, and Mick says its still with the police! Who do you call when the police are the perpetrators of the crime???
Nice old piece though.........shame it was bored out!

if you are really interested in saving these old guns, then don't fuck with them any more than has already been done.
Boring out the paradox is one thing (and done for a reason in the past), trying to put it back, even with screw in choke chubes would really stuff it.
If you really want a Paradox, buy one.
