WTB - A-SQUARE 577 T-REX If anyone has one they would like to pass-on - or if you know of one for sale .. I'd be interested. |

I'm still looking. Anyone? |

Getting ready to fight back? I'd heard some wild T-Rex was eating up your whitetails. SRY Buckstix - I do not know anyone who has one, let alone for sale, although if I did know of someone with one of those, it would likely be for sale. After watching the videos of guys shooting them, I would suspect most used T-Rex's would have some degree of stock or barrel damage from bouncing on the floor, ground, off back walls, etc. I think O'l Ed Huble has some guns and loads might just make the T-Rex look like a warm .577BPE load. |

Jack Lott had a hand in one of those, made it up on a m17 action & the case was a turned rimless 577 case if I remember correctly! A small article is in the Big Bore Magazine (Ultra Magnum Wildcats?) he spoke about how they went about it - & yeah it was an absolute cannon so I'll pass on that one! |

Buck is a glutton for punishment. He already has examples of two of my wildcat creations, the .500 SRE and the .577 VSRE, shown here with another wildcat, the .450 C&W. The .577 VSRE (for Very Short Range Express) duplicates the ballistics of the .577 NE in a 2.5" case designed for a bolt rifle: a 750 grain bullet at 2050 fps. Next to it is the .500 SRE, which propels a 570 grain .510" bullet at 2150 fps, duplicating the performance of the .500 NE. The .450, on the left, is simply a rimmed version of the .450 Watts for use in a double rifle or single shot. I have a Krieghoff O/U double rifle in that caliber, which duplicates the performance of the .450 NE at pressure levels commensurate with a double rifle. I can attest that the .577 VSRE is a handful to shoot. |

What's the parent case for the 577 VSRE? |
Quote: The .577 NE, shortened to 2.5", with the rim removed and a groove cut in the case head forming a rebated rim the same size as that of the .416 Rigby, to convert it into a rimless cartridge suitable for use in a bolt action rifle. |

Love seeing Saeeds victims! Sometimes you see someone who really knows how to shoot the larger bore rifles. Is the single shot for benchrest |
Quote: Actually, with moderate loads (750g @ 2000 fps & under) this one's a pleasure to shoot from the bench. But with full-house loads @ 2400 fps - not so much. |

Hello Buckstix, thatīs nice that you got finally a repeating rifle in .577 T-Rex! I expect the shot placement on whitetails is simply below the front hooves, the fall down the crater and break their neck... If your single shot is still available, may I ask you about the price? Some years ago I bought a die set in .577 T-Rex, so a fitting rifle would be a nice supplement... best regards Rolf |
