Manton & Co. Farquharson in 400/360 $4250 Apparently Manton had a lot to say back in the early 20th Century. The barrel is incribed "Manton & Co. Gunmakers, Calcutta by Appointment To H. E. The Viceroy "400 / 360 2 3/4 Solid Case" over "40 Grs Cordite 300 Grs Soft Nose Nickel Bullet" This is a solid rifle. The bore is clean with zero pitting. The action looks to be nickel plated with standard trade style engraving. There is some engraving on the barrel breech which doesn't match exactly to the action but nice. There is a hole in the top tang and a corresponding hole in the wood just to the rear of the top tang for a Lyman type sight. I have a Lyman peep sight that fits if the buyer wants it. The top tang sits proud of the wood on the edges. 100yd standing and 200 & 300yd folding leaves. The trigger looks to be gold plated but is blacked over. Barrel, safety, under lever, grip cap and trigger guard are blacked. |
