cartridge was ahead of its time for being a short cartridge

Lancaster, you can certainly find some rare gems, beautiful engraving to say the least!
I don't understand Spanish, but was this cartridge designed 1899 & the catalogue out 1900?
Sort of predated the 8mm Kurz by a fair old margin then didn't it!

Thanks for posting Lancaster. That is a neat old semi-auto! Never heard of this rifle. Cost three times more than the bolt actions? Probably didn’t sell many. Loaded by stripper clips, I imagine, since I don’t see a magazine.

I love that rifle. John Henwood devotes a page to them, with a couple of pictures, in his book about the remington model 8. Apparently they were made in very limited numbers. The story of semiauto sporting rifles is very interesting and an important chapter in the evolution of the rifle.

I have no interest in modern semiautos but really like the early ones. My old remington model 8 is a blast to shoot. I think it is beautiful and ugly at the same time! Made in 1909.

I really like the old Model 8. I’ve had 4 - 3 in 30 Remington and 1 in 35 Remington. Might be time to get another?

I really love the old semi-auto sporters. I have several Model 8s, 1907 and 1910 Winchesters and a Standard Arms Model G.

I’d have to agree. I have 4 of the 1907s and 1 of the 1910s. Really underrated rifles. The 07s (and to a lesser degree the 1910s) are historically significant as well from their use early in WW1 in British airplanes and by France apparently in the trenches; in the 1930s by gangsters and lawmen alike including the FBI, John Dillinger and Baby Face Nelson; and beyond by law enforcement and prison guards.
1907 deluxe with a few 10-round magazines.

an interesting belgian made tirmax semi auto in 7,65 Browning/32 acp

you would think its a useless combination but I have reports of poachers killing roed deer and a forester with the dreyse 1907 in 7,65 Brow.

I agree with the .401. That would have been a fun gun, less so the .351, but that also would have been OK.

The Tirmax is an real interesting rifle - and technical more interesting, because it use an delayed blowback bolt.The patents go back to the Warnant family, the weapon was marketed by the Franken & Lünenschloss company before the First World War, production ended with the occupation of Belgium.

delayed blowback action for the 7,65 browning is a lot of work. I undestand this is your own carbine?
Do you shoot this, its also quiet like the dreyse carbine in the video? well, it must be because physics don't depend on the brand.

Yes, its mine. There is no difference in shooting the Tirmax or Dreyse/Rheinmetall.
The bolt of the Tirmax is just to light, so Warnant constructed an delay to keep sure that the bolt is closed.
