8x57IS reloaded surplus ammo from Finland

interesting hunting ammo box
loaded by FN in Belgium in 1940 probably before the war in west started in mai. the bullets were replaced with 11,3 gramm softpoints and its was sold post war as low budget hunting ammo. one can asume that the general quality of this military surplus was very good. the label is complete in english and its stated "Loaded in Finland" there so I am thinking this was done by Sako or Lapua. there is a small "971" on the backside what can mean it was reloaded in september 1971. anyone knows if this is still the original FN box under the label.there is also a stamp "Forest" on the label what could be the stamp of a forest department.

Based on what you have said already (Sako) this might make sense.

when you change the bullet code "E 315" on the box in "315 E" it looks like a Sako bullet code

Cool! - back in the 70's, we used to pull the 147gr. FMJ's form 7.62x51 IVI69 issue and replace them with 130gr. Speer HP's. They would hold the X ring from prone from my full-bore match rifle. The old 'boys' called them a Mexican Handload. Perhaps they should be renamed "Finnish Handload".

got a similar box which is more a "mexican handload" or should I say german handload.
looks like a official FN military box with 8x57IS , headstamp is "F N (19)54"

someone had cut the tip of the sS spitzer bullet to make hunting rounds of it. I suspect it was done by a german gunmaker in the 1960s because it does not look like a homemade job and is mark as soft points on the box label.
hunting ammo of yesterday
