Kynoch .318 date ??

I hope I am not re asking a question that has already been answered on here. I've done a search, but cannot find anything.

I have just purchased some old Kynoch .318 ammunition and would like to know the date of manufacture.
I was going to list the codes, but I thought the packaging may also help, so here is a photo of front, back and side.

If anyone can be of some assistance, it would be much appreciated.

Well..They may not be that old. With that color of boxes i presume they are made from late `40s to the closeout of Kynoch in the `60s. The real early boxes from Knoch were grey boxes or lead brackets.

Here is an early ones from Rigbys.

Here is an early Kynoch from the days, when is was nice to be a white Gent in India..

15 I X date at 15-02-49

From the Kynioch box code key , the first letter denotes the month the second the year and the number is the day

The red and yellow box was made from 1936

If the correct bullets are in the box the code for them is RNGMCStSN.which means

Round Nose Guilding Metal Covered Steel Soft Nose ( Magnetic )

charge was 52 grains of Nitro Celluloes powder
bullet weight 250 grains

Thank you very much for the information. I held a magnet to the projectile and they are magnetic.

I'll have to get myself a copy of this book.

I appreciate the offer of purchasing them, but I don't wish to sell them. However just as a point of interest, could you give me an idea of what they are worth. Solely to see if I paid too much.

Re: Kynoch .318 date ??

you have a far better chance of picking six numbers on a saturday night than finding the book

I wouldn't have a clue what they are worth.
