Now THAT is interesting. In Firearms of the American West (one of them) I recall seeing a photograph taken at a "Hunting Cabin" wherein one of the guns was a SXS- rifle I think, with a bayonet attached. |

One of my 16bore pinfire double rifles was set up with a side lug for a hirchfanger hunting bayonet. I have photos somewhere of the lug, my profile image is of that rifle. Cheers Tinker |

I think such a device would affect regulation of a rifle to a considerable amount. On a shotgun probably not a big difference. Maybe when ball or shot fails, one can protect oneself froma boar with the bayonet? And especially so for muzzle loading guns. But for muzzle loading guns, watch out when you use the ramrod reloading your gun! |

Absolutley interesting. Note in the third down as well as the bottom picture, the slot for a lug on the side of the barrel. |

watching some of the house clearing on warrior pov made me think a nice sharpie on the end of an m4 might not be a bad idea. |

The shorter the gun, the longer the poker. |

u would think back in the old days trapping and hunting with the old flintlock it would be only natural to have one in bear country. hugh glass sure could have used it lol. |

Always wanted to hunt bears with a spear with cross tree, of course and an 11th or 12th century broadsword. Invoke a charge and impale the bear on the spear, then cut it's head off with a sword. THAT would make my day! It's a Canadian Thing. I just made that part up. |

Daryl S Maybe spear like this ? This is old finnish bear spear. Now in North Carelian Museum. I have seen similar one when i was five (or six) years old boy. Itīs original owner was famous finnish karelian hunter Ignoi Vornanen. |
