Arnhemland hunt

Hi there, recently returned from a hunt in Arnhemland NT.
We were fortunate to score a few bulls, though there was no shortage of beast to be found.
The fishing was excellent and the generosity from our native cousins made us wish we could stay longer.

Here's a few pics to browse over.

Thanks Ironbuck, Yep Buffalo are great eating, though the mature bulls do require post preparation to enable them to be palitable.
The meat form our harvested best was utilised by our aboriginal friends, that way everyone stayed happy.

Some very nice trophies there. From the photo they appear to have some nice thickness too.

Great to hear the meat, or some of it was also used. It is always a shame to see such grand animals and so much meat not utilised even though I understand most of the reasons it is not always done.

Thanks for the photos. Any story too?

Re: Arnhemland hunt

Nitro,
We had the good fortune of spending over 3 weeks on 2 aboriginal outstations in southern Arnhemalnd. The 1st inland while the 2nd provided us with floodplain country and access to the coast, though fresh water was not as close which resulted in us bathing and drinking billabong water which was a concern. We were assured no large lizards resided in the separate washing and drinking holes. The locals bathed there daily, even though we never could get used to the idea.

We sure got amongst some great bulls, though getting to within bow range of some was never going to happen due to either open terrain or other particulars which were unavoidable. Our bulls scored in the 90's low mid and high, we did see some impressive 100 pointers, man they were great beasts.
In some instances wastage is unavoidable as you can well appreciate, due the size of the beasts and the remoteness of the area, though all attempts were made to utilize as much as possible. While we were camped with the locals as u can imagine there was no wastage

Heres some more pics
