The Joys of Detachable Sidelocks

I attended an annual clay target shoot a weekend ago, it is about the only organised clay target shooting I do. The shoot consists of a round of Trap, followed by Skeet and finished off with a round of Simulated Field. This year's Field was quite difficult with many high flying Upland birds simulated.

During the Simulated field shoot my rear trigger jammed. Another fellow loaned me his Under and Over with single trigger (ugh!) to re-shoot the bird. Before my next round came I unscrewed the hand detachable locks and prodded various parts (I am very scientific and mechanically minded). The trigger released and away I went again.

My next round I shoot every 'bird'

Hand detachable sidelocks ala Holland & Holland are way cool .

Re: The Joys of Detachable Sidelocks

I ask a well-known shotgun 'smith one time what, if any, were problem areas with sidelock guns....his response was...."owner's constantly taking off the sideplates on those that are hand-detachable".
