Westley try gun.

Won a hard used Westley 12 bore ejector single trigger try gun yesterday at an auction. Fairly cheap. Will go into the collection of WRs.

Wow!
You don't see those every day!
Marvelous addition to the collection.
Well done mate.

Is it a drop-lock?

Wasn't advertised as such.

Sorry: couldn't find a gremlin/emoticon for "tongue-in-cheek"...

Re: Westley try gun.

Received the WR in the mail today. Except for 2 tiny view marks on the water table no other proof marks. None on the barrel flats. Serial number is funny as well. C5520. No "C" prefix listed in WR website or books.

Isn't that a bit weird?
Surely try-guns would be shot over the traps to confirm accurate fit. Certainly happens at the H&H shooting school. I would have expected all try-guns to have passed definitive proof, and be so-marked.

As would I Marrakai. Just the two faint view marks on the water table.

maybe because they were never intended for being sold to anyone outside

Re: Westley try gun.

Maybe. It has no engraving, no name on the action just on the rib, but it does have ejectors. Strange. The top strap is completely different than a normal gun. Couldn't be made from a normal action the way this one is.
