ever heard of a Peugeot shotgun?

never heard of it but it seems they are real,made between the wars its sometimes a little bit different. in all a good gun, nice to handle, made SxS and over/under

But has top locking that is more like a Beretta SO.
If they can make Salt & Pepper grinders why not guns.

My first guess is Peugot guns were re-branded from another maker.
Range Rover or Jaguar (?) was selling a gun with one of their models a few years ago. Easy to re-brand some other makers work. I almost bought a "Richard Burton" shotgun as my first shotgun once upon a time.
More a few brands are made by particular makers still today.
The re-branded brand of course tries to avoid this stigman, wanting to be original.

EDIT: I missed the last section completely. They bought and added to the company group a gunmaker.

This is the name "Peugeot" as it was written in the 50s / 60s on bikes and pepper mills, as well as on the trunk of cars 203 and 403.
Peugeot started with pepper mills (we still manufacture them), then bicycles and cars. So why not shotguns?

In the same way, Peugeot made UNIQUE manufacturing pistols in caliber 6.35 mm (25 ACP) renamed PEUGEOT !!!

The Peugeot weapons were manufactured in Saint-Etienne (France) by the "Manufactures d'Armes" of the company "Cycles Peugeot SA", which later became a subsidiary of the Peugeot group under the name "Société de Mechanical Mécanique Peugeot Loire".
This region was chosen for its highly qualified workforce, Saint-Etienne being the center of the manufacture of weapons in France.
Production began in the mid-1920s and in the 1930 catalog there were already four models of shotgun with two barrels juxtaposed and two models with two superimposed guns, as well as two automatic guns.
The quality of these firearms and their level of security quickly gave a good reputation to Peugeot.
In 1936 the range consisted of 21 shotguns and 5 rifles.
The Second World War interrupted this activity and the difficulties of the industrial restart in 1945 put an end to this industrial branch.

I understand that Peugeot was a big concern with different departments and one member of the family start the shotgun businees in saint ettienne in the 1920s. all was under the head of the big firm.
when I see this first thought it was maybe another man with the same name, some kind oof "smith" or rebranded but it seems real. the guns were not cheap and go for some money today in france.

Alas no.
We did have the Warne Brothers of Kimber in SA before they moved to the USA.
Another Aussie maker was Slazenger and Lithgow in Lithgow.
Not sure of any others?

This shotgun action is quite similar with my Saive Super o/u but some small detail seems to be different. This action isn´t any real Kersten but a modification of it.
