Purdey pair on Used Guns

I am sure someone will tell me if I am not supposed to post this however I could not resist.

Usual caveats, not mine nor related to me in any way. I have no idea of value however I would love to own something like this one day. The stuff of dreams - for me anyway.

A very nice pair.

I would think they could put the bore dimensions
which is so important.

What people do, Lancaster is a good example, is pinch the photographs to display here. And some description. That way we get something for the free advertising, and the photos are often archived. Some guys put up links to their guns being sold with nothing else. I sometimes delete those. If the post is entertaining, ie see above, they get away with it.

Re: Purdey pair on Used Guns

It would be good to see more shotgun posts on here, plus more discussions on shotguns and shotgunning. However one gunmaker said to me, "when you are already doing double rifles, who cares about shotguns."

I would love a pair of good Purdey shotguns. One day when I win lotto, they will certainly be on the list.

Nitrox & 500
Thanks for the comments. I too would like to see more posts on shotguns.
If I wanted to find out more about English shotguns is there any particular book that is a good reference.
Thanks
Rick

Nice guns but at $84kAUD I find them a bit too expensive, £40k max for me($61kAUD).
Just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it, on what I've seen other Purdeys go for in shops and at auction.

500
Just some introduction type material. Something I can use as a base and go from there.

ArnoldB
No idea of value myself. You would probably see a lot more of them for sale over there so would know what they go for.

Agree with Arnoldb, they look in good condition but 40k GBP MAX, at auction I reckon nearer 30k or a bit less given age. Of course with interesting provenence that would change, best, Mike

Agree with Arnold / Mike, unless something special
or with Prov they are a very nice pair from the heyday.

Might be worth starting a new thread on books for shotgun research instead of cluttering up this thread. I'll do some searching anyway.

Re: Purdey pair on Used Guns

USedguns listings are often way over priced. The proof or not is do they get sold at the prices? If so, guess someone out there was willing. If not, always a good idea to put in an offer at a sensible price. 50% of the asked for price, would be a huge "discount". Someone is hoping from the sounds of it.

BTW those guns look to have a lot of cast (or is it counter cast? - I forget which way it goes). One reason they have not shown the guns from directly above perhaps.
