Cogswell & Harrison .450/400

Hey Boys - check out what I just found on gunbroker.com - a beautiful Cogswell & Harrison .450/400 Nitro Express bolt action and the current bid is under $700 (US) and it appears to be in mint condition. Here's the link:

I'm tempted, but not quite ready to "pull the trigger" just yet...

Yeah - other than that, nice hunting rifle from the past.

Re: Cogswell & Harrison .450/400

Wonder about the true condition of the bore, might be a candidate for re-bore to .450 3 1/4, that was one of the calibers originally offered and would probably feed and function with no drama.

Ash here is an owner of one of these 'Certus' type rifles, if you want to know more give him a PM.
Good calibre & something certainly different mate

Ash,
That bolt comes back a long way - must come awful close to your cheek when operating the bolt?
Bloody well preserved that ol' gal!
Even got a 'drop box' mag so I wonder how many does she hold?

Re: Cogswell & Harrison .450/400

I think you would not operate the bolt from the firing position. The rear end of the bolt would hit you in or just under the eye by the looks of it.

Holds 3 IIRC, 9.3x64.

Yeah, you have to lower them to cycle the bolt. I can hardly reach the bolt handle when I shoulder mine.
