375 ,458, 416 socom in the AR 15 platform

Recently started playing with the AR systems and their suppressors . These rounds are kind of a paradox big bore bullets out of a small case , great for suppressed guns will fit single stack in a 5.56 magazine. Has anyone here played with these interesting rounds

Now a semiautomatic spitting out 500 gr pills seems like a great medium game thumper ,deer, hogs, for the 375 I have seen 350 gr ammo that will cycle a semi is subsonic and opens up creating a great wound channel.

Nasty "Black Rifle" baby eaters with 3 evil features would make a wonderful ergonomic hunting rifle. Alas they are restricted in Canada and can not be used for hunting. The 3 evil features are not relevant in Canada but they get California's panties in a twist. Gun laws are perverse in all their glorious forms although the Brits in their infinite wisdom were responsible for unwittingly creating a massive multi party endeavour to thwart one of the earliest gun laws we know, thus giving the world all manner of lovely Nitro Express cartridges to choose from!

Anyhow, could one drive a heavy bullet in a super short case fast enough to make it practical for short range hunting for light big game? I have experience with a Ruger Deerfield in .44mag that will shoot 240 grain bullets well out to 50 yards but sighted at 50, the bullets splash the ground easily 30 feet short of and ten feet below the 100 yard targets.

I think of those sexy long Nitro Express cases that eat 100 grains of powder to get a 500 grain bullet going at 2100 FPS and I think of the much shorter .44 mag case that launches a bullet half that weight at 200 FPS slower and it makes me wonder about the efficacy of this adventure.

In any event, I am unfamiliar with these short big bore cartridges that you are looking at. Is it fair to assume that they are intended to have similar bullet weights and velocities to the .44 mag?

No the 500 gr bullets hit 1200fps that's not handgun speed but closer to 45 70 speed out of a semi I would say 100 to 200 for suppressed 100 with multiple targets possible 200 for supersonic they are using the 450 bushmaster on the AR platform the little black ugly has arrived at big bore levels granted not dangerous game but moose.black bear deer hog a good choice

I bought 100 cases of .458 SOCOM about 5 years back and never did the project. Remington 7600 pump gun. Ah well, i'll sell em off and one day do it again. Need money for other things now.

I've been wanting to build an upper in .458 for a while, whenever I looked at buying into it I couldn't find all of the parts. It seems to be a buyers market for AR15 stuff now so maybe I'll finally do it. I have a Silencerco Hybrid that I haven't shot yet, mainly bought it for its versatility and the new 41F regulations.

My son bought a .458 Socom a few years back and the ballistics are equal to or greater than the standard .45-70 factory ammo. It seems to function as well as the .223 upper with which he has taken feral hogs. He has not used the Socom on hogs yet, but it should do fine.

Will the .458 Socum feed the 405gr. Remington bullet - it is flat nosed and rather blunt.

Perhaps the 325gr. rubber tipped Hornady might feed better and be more appropriate for hogs with deeper penetration than the 405gr FN, or just as good & with good expansion. Guys up here have said they are too soft for moose.

Top-end Marlin loads with the 405 Remington, same deal - gotta slow them down, I have read, such that, anything over 1,800fps is too fast for heavy game.
