Range of bullets available for the .375 H&H Mag?

Tell me, what sort of range of bullets is available for the .375 H&H Mag?

The original bullet range was 235 SP for medium game, 270 gr SP for medium plains game, and 300 fr SP RN and 300 gr FMJ for dangerous game.

The world has moved a long way since then. What are the lightest and heaviest bullets now available for the .375?

Thanks.

For the 375 H&H 235 grain still seems to be the minimum. There are some lighter bullets but they are for lever action rifles. Woodleigh make 350 grain bullets in RNSN, PP and FMJ. I am pretty sure that there are some companies in Africa making 380 grain and 400 grain as well.

I've used 220gr Hornady flat nose (for 375 Winchester) on raccoons and 350gr Woodliegh on black bears.

I really like the Nosler 260 accubond for deer, very accurate and flat shooting.

Re: Range of bullets available for the .375 H&H Mag?

I have 200 Grain Sierra Pro-Hunter and 225 Sierra Game King(discontinued I think), and taken deer with the 225 at short range, under 100 yards. Very pleasant, less blast and recoil like a .243.
Heaviest I have are 300 Hornady InterLoc.

350 (Sierra Match King) and 375 grain are made for the .375 CheyTac but I have never seen or heard of anyone using them in .375 H&H nor have I ever seen loads developed for the 350 grain from a respected source.

Rell indicates experience with the 350gr Woodliegh.

The CheyTac has 'moved your world' of .375 into another dimension. Having fired both .408 and .375 CheyTac the experience is.....different.

The Bullet Factory makes a 210 grain and 200grain projectile for the 375H&H.

This link should take you to their home page. Based in Qld.

Good prices and yes they are no premium grade but for most Aussie uses they do a good job. I have used their 235 grains 375 on pigs, and their 358 200 grain in my 35Sambar on pigs. No exits on any but the small pigs.

I have shot the 200gr.Sierra, 220gr.Hornady, 225gr. Hornady SP, through 260Nos., 270Spr, 2 from Horn., 300's, Interlock and Interbond & SPBT Hornadys', Norma RN and SierraSPBT to the 350gr. Barnes RN, along with my 330gr. RN's made with shortened .223 brass.

Quite a range and they all shot well in the .375/06IMP and the .375 H&H.

The absolute worst bullet I've ever used in 375 H&H was the 235gn Speer.

Woodleigh has a very good range of projectiles for the 375 H&H up to 350 grains, and they are properly designed for 375 H&H velocities.

+1..really accurate in mine as well..

I have only used the 260, 270 and 300 Gr...bullets...for game in lighter bullets I usually just move down in caliber and rifle...but, after having used one during my last hunt, it truly is a very versatile caliber...

We shoot the 300g A-Frame for pretty much everything. I do load the 350g Woodleighs as well though. Either will work for your purposes. They won't get up

Friend of mine has a vial full of expanded 235gr. Speers, extracted from moose that performed perfectly, on broadside rib shots. He thought they were a good bullet, at a time when Elmer thought them too soft. You do not, however, want to hit bone with them.

We know now, due to 9.3x57's (Rod's) testing, that sized down to .366", the 235gr. Speer gain some toughness of jacket and become excellent game bullets for the 9.3's, giving penetration all out of proportion to their weight. They were driven at some 2,450fps in those tests.

The 235gn Speer might work ok at velocities around 2400 fps, but the 375 H&H can put 500 fps or more on top of that.
My old Speer reloading manual lists hunting loads up to 2967fps with this bullet. In my experience the 235gn Speer is way too soft at speeds anywhere near what the H&H can easily push them.
Shooting with an old peep sight BRNO 375 H&H back in the 1980's, I had this bullet fragment and fail to penetrate just on medium size pigs.

I reckon Elmer was right, they're too soft at H&H velocities.

Been mostly shooting 300gr TSX was thinking of a North American load just loaded some CEB 235grER ended up with a one hole group at 3000fps perhaps I have found one.

People have different results with bullets, it seems.

Wasn't going to mention him but a local chap, one I worked with for 17 1/2 years, used the 235's on more than a few moose (probably 4 or 5) and found they performed quite well - picture perfect expansion on broad side shots.

I will also note, that he was prone to only shooting at longer than normal ranges when testing bullets, just to make sure they worked - "out there". I have never met a better long range game shot, then he is.

Forgot to note his rifle - Sako .375H&H.

No surprises there.

Different results can come from different muzzle velocities, different shot distances, different impact velocities, different shot placement, different animal body/bone structure etc.

I'm not surprised at all that this bullet can work well on rib shots at long range from the 375H&H.
The 235gn Speer starting out with a muzzle velocity of 2800 fps will only be doing a mere 2000 fps at 300 yards.
That's an 800 fps loss!
Even at 200 yards it will lose 550 fps.
There is always going to be a big difference in that bullets performance when the impact velocities can be so different.

Whack something on the shoulder at under 100 yards with that same 2800 fps mv load and you will most likely have a wounded animal to deal with.

With my 375 H&H 602 Brno, I once shot a half grown sow pig at about 30-40 yards which was running directly away. The 235 gn Speer disintegrated on impact, and created a huge surface wound.
That was enough for me to never trust that bullet loaded to H&H velocities.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad bullet.
I am saying that, based on my own experience, it is too soft for 375 H&H velocities at shorter distances.

In the lower velocity 375's, including the 375 Whelen and others, it might work just fine.

If it fails to kill medium sized Aussie feral pigs from being too soft then it would be of ZERO interest to me for the .375 H&H Mag. A paper shooting bullet only, so again zero interest.
