Remington 700 XCR II 375 H&H

I'm currently looking at buying a Remington 700 XCR II in 375 H&H. I have read some reviews.

Just wondering if anyone has one out there and what do they think of it.

A mate of mine has one and uses it in Victoria ( Australia) as a Sambar deer rifle. It is a practical rifle and has good weatherproof coatings but it is about as far as you can get from a classically styled. 375. I'm not a fan of push feed rifles in bigger cals but his seems to work well and it shoots accurately. Aesthetically they are not a pretty rifle.

The 700 action is basically a steel pipe. The recoil lug is just a big washer. In a big bore rifle, that's not a good design to handle the torque generated by heavy bullets.

There are better choices in the same general price range.

CZ Safari
Winchester Safari express
Sako 85 ( not true controlled round feed but nice just the same)

They don't "look the part" but are good gear.

Will feed super reliable and smooth out of the box. On this forum you will probably get bombarded with the CRF people. Those blokes are happy even if there CRF is a pain in the arse.

Over the years the various Rem 700s in 375 (often after bedding) have been very accurate.

A good alternative is the Wby Mark V Synthetic. They shoot like a 243 and are jam proof and have the longer magazine box, similar to the CZ

I have a custom shop 700 in .416--has never failed me and is incredibly accurate..more so in fact than the two customs or the Winchester I have..for what its worth...
