Charging target shoot. Buffalo and Lion. Buffalo - 3 shots, first shot at the stationary target, and then starts charging. Lion - 2 shots, first shot taken only after the target has started moving. (will check this is right as I can't remember and edit later) Difficult as the kill zone, scoring a 10 or 9 only, was quite small. Speedy shooting was needed to get all shots in in time, and even more important, even one good shot, a 10, got the competitor in the running to win. Daniel from Adelaide won both charging comps. Lots hit the target in the black, but not good enough if not in the small scoring zone. The buffalo target was also smaller than a normal buffalo head. Both targets when the "charge" commenced would lift up before settling down to allow a shot. Good fun. |

The special "camp" rifle shoot, using single shot .22 RF Lithgow Slazengers. Of indeterminate point of impact! Simulating, using a "camp" .22 for adding small game to the safari or shikar pot for the end of the day. David taking a careful sitting rest. Graeme is wondering, "What happened there?!" |

Some great shots there NitroX!!! Also some pretty good shooters as well. They bring the weekend alive again and a smile to my face. I do think you have a problem with your camera though. How did you manage to get such an old guy into my clothes? Many thanks for posting them. LesLeeSpeed |

Hi Les, Thanks. When posting and going through the photos, I forgot you were among them and are on the Queensland team. My usual "tunnel vision" when doing a task! And concentrating on editing the photos. I have more than some photos of some people as they tended to be on the outside of the lines in the heats where I was shooting. Easier to stand on the side on either end of the line when taking photos. Now I remember taking some photos of you shooting too ... but I still have about 21 folders of photos, each folder having a sequence of photos I hope can be edited into moving GIF images. Never done that before so will see. Maybe I have a MOVIE file. Haven't looked at them at all yet. Still have to add a lot of comments if I remember what to add. Was good to meet you at the shoot. |

Daryl, you would be welcome. Often a Nationals is attended by at least one US visitor. That Tassie Nationals were attended by a Sheriff friend of Barry's. Pappas attended the Darwin Nationals. Some Yankee and Canadian accents at the SA Nationals. I believe they are resident in Australia though. One guy I think was a visitor. |

I do note that my dentist figures prominently in the pics,we have swapped quite a few yarns and photos in the surgery at times. Very refreshing to see mounted game heads in the D`s office, makes a change from the greeny types. BC came to our ADA UG branch one evening with doubles etc and was a good yarn spinner with a live audience too. .22 RF Lithgow Slazengers...ah the very rifle I cut my teeth on.I do wish I had a buck for every rabbit I shot with my mums Lithgow. |
