Famous Zimbabwean Elephant Hunter..."JGC"???

G'Day Fella's,

Earlier today, a good mate of mine dropped off a number of items, to assess for their value.

Among these items, included a pair of large sheathed knives with the following initials "JGC" inside a "Diamond", stamped on both blades.
Both knives are very well made, and have trailing edges, brass bolsters and grip ends and possibly Ivory (or bone?) grip panels.
The reason I say "possibly Ivory" is, I know what Ivory looks like (but I aint no expert), and some area's of the grip panels have the grain of Ivory but this grain isn't consistent through out all of the panels and it also has a yellowish colour to it, in some area's of the panels?

The "story" goes that these knives were once owned by a now departed, famous Zimbabwean Elephant Hunter "JGC", and that he made them himself, for his own use.
The tooled leather sheath that holds both knives, is also very well made but hasn't spent much if any time on anybody's belt and the knives look to have had little use.

So, do any of you good folks know of a famous Zim or even African Elephant Hunter, with the initials JGC?

Also and FYI, I came across the following, whilst Googling JGC;

G'Day Fella's,

Thanks for that info Gryphon.
By the way, I have located a Sth African knife maker, whose business names initials are "JGC".
I'll take some images of the blades and email them to him, for a "Do these look familiar"?

Yes, most of the poached animals, just rot in the bush.

Homer
