Your Safari Clothing
|
|
My last trip to Afrika was a 10 day safari in the Eastern Cape. I wanted to have some fun on top the regular fun, so I decided to dress as close to early 20th century as I could. Most of the days I wore knee high riding boots with jodhpors and Stetson. On a couple of days I wore a kilt with a canvas cover and a tam.
I purposely didnt tell my buddy who was along for the hunt, or my PH (KMG Safaris). I flew over wearing the Stetson; looking like a stereotype of a "Texan"; but reserved the rest of the garb for the first day of the hunt. I had done a lot of hiking back home in my "kit" to be sure I was comfortable.
We had a blast. I also had the hunt professionally videoed--the cost was well worth the final product. I cant speak highly enough about Marius and his gang.
This is KMG's promo, its not all my buddy and me; but its worth the look for a couple laughs of me dressed as Teddy Roosevelt and in a kilt--must be careful of thorns... KMG Safaris

In addition to the video link, some photos are needed to be posted so we can laugh at them permanently. Good work having some fun.

If you hunted with a kilt around here, the ticks and chiggers would be forever in your debt.
Incidentally, jodhpurs are not worn with boots, they are worn with jodhpur shoes. Boots are worn with breeches.

I think I saw a Teddy Roosevelt look alike in the film.
No kilt though.

Fine looking kilt - Is it your clan tartan by inheritance?
