Brno ZKK 600 are they any good? Do I want it?

Have got my eye on one of these in .270,thought it would be a good platform to rebarrel.6x scope and rings inc.
The guy only wants Aus$500/US$375 is that a good buy?
A new CZ 550 Lux in 9.3x62 is US$750 here in Oz.

Regards,Shaun.

Shaun

I'm not sure if it is a good buy in Aus but depending on the scope make it would be a good one here. I think that if you are looking to make it a 9.3x62 you might find that it is cheaper and easier to spend the extra money for the already made one.

I own three Brno's and all are outstanding. If you want a 270 then pick it up, but if you are going to rebarrel, then just stick with the new CZ. The nice thing with Brnos is that they are punched with the year of manufacture on the left side of the action as well as on the barrel ie 49, 52, 85 etc.

My first centrefire rifle I bought was a Brno 600 in .270. It was CRAP, looks were outstanding but it wouldn't shoot for shit. Had the barrel and action floated and bedded, trigger worked on still shot like shit. I ended up swapping it for my 6.5 swede and haven't looked back. I swapped it at a gun shop in Canberra, the bloke behind the counter's eyes lit up when I told him I wanted to swap...little did he know. The swede doesn't look as nice but it shoots better. From what I was told since, the brno factory had a fire and after it the quality control sliped a bit, but who knows.

I'm not sugesting that that rifle will be crap, but for my money I would save up the extra $ a get the 9.3.

Look for the ZKK with the popup peep sight in the receiver bridge, very neat.
