Value of a BRNO ZKK-602 please

I have been offered a BRNO ZKK-602 in 8x68S---which is a cartridge I have long desired. There is nothing on any current site to use as a comparison price. I'm located in the US. Does anyone have a good idea on a fair price?

Thank you!

Re: Value of a BRNO ZKK-600 please

Here where I live, I would suspect the value to be around $600.00 to $1,000.00 at the high end, depending of course on the condition. A rare calibre, though.

Thank you Daryl. I made a mistake in my original post--now edited. It is a ZKK-602. What influence will that have, if any?

That sounds better. I had not heard of a 600 in that calibre as the 8x68S would need a larger bolt face than standard .470"- something around .510 to .512".
The "value" would be slightly higher, I guess, but I would think not over $1,200.00 to $1,300.00.
Gun prices/values "up here in the sticks" are usually lower than elsewhere.

Rock Island Auction sold one in 458 for $1,150 in 2019. I would expect a rarer caliber like 8x68 would bring more.

Thank you Gentlemen. The asking is probably appropriate with the above. It's a friend so I'll make him eat the shipping! :-)

I dream of finding a ZKK600 for that price. With a popup peep sight. Convert it to a .318 WR.

A ZKK602 in 8x68S would be a dream as well.

Well, the deed is done. I probably paid too much but it isn't going to force me into eating cat food or anything. I pretty much had to as I already have a fair pile of brass and dies...

It will likely be a couple of weeks before it's in hand but I'm looking forward to it!

Brass for the 8x68, or my little wildcat, the 9.5x68 is easily made from .375H&H brass. I suspect .300 Win Mag brass would also work well, as I made up some 6.5x68 brass using .300 Winny Mag brass. It comes out just a wee bit short, is all.

Re: Value of a BRNO ZKK-600 please

I actually bought the brass in order to form it into 35 Newton but, when it showed up, I was just plain smitten by the cartridge so I put it aside. I since made the Newtons out of .375 Ruger (when it was easily available).

For your brass, do you fire and push the case out to the belt diameter? I looked into that for the .280 Ross but decided not to head that way. I've heard differing opinions on what that does to case life.

I was told that I could make 30 Newton brass by fireforming 300 Win Mag brass. I did that but was concerned about the brass strength at the head. It seems that the brass would be very weak where folded out at the belt ant immediately bend 90 degrees where it hit the chamber wall. I used that brass for only mild loads. Luckily I found some Speer brass and then Jamison made 30 & 256 Newton brass.

Re: Value of a BRNO ZKK-600 please

To make 8x68S brass from .375 H&H brass - easily done. Turn the belt to .522", trim to length, chamfer and size placing the shoulder for a crush fit.
Fireform with standard 8x68S loads.
I had no difficulty with brass strength and had no 90 degree bends.

Maybe that would happen in the Newton, but not in the 8x68 nor the 9.5x68 in my case.

Just buy Norma or RWS 8x68S brass.

Re: Value of a BRNO ZKK-600 please

Yeah - they weren't readily available to me when I needed them. Neither was shipping to Canada that I knew, so I made my own - easy and just as good.
My wife came down to the basement when I was making cases one day, watched me for a while and asked "what are you doing"?. I answered I'm making brass for a new wildcat I thought of and chambered a rifle for. She paused a few minutes watching, then said" you're one of the reasons Allen Rock is so afraid of people with guns"! My answer was "he has no idea that what I am doing is even possible, he knows nothing about guns".
