Winchester pre 64 243

Heres a few pics of a featherweight I picked up, serial number puts it as a 1960 model. In pretty good condition considering its age Bore is very good, looking forward to shooting it. Leupold 3.5-10 scope , hilver mounts. Shoulders nicely and the trigger is very crisp and light.
Ive put together some loads with nosler projectiles . Ill see how they go and start looking for a fallow to try them out on.
It goes well with the other 64's I've collected.
Heres some pics , cheers Mick

Re: Winchester pre 64 243

Christened the. 243 the other day. Not a fallow but a ripper Vic boar. The last thing I was expecting to find. Boars fighting over a sow in some thick bracken. Quick shot at 15m , drop on the spot. Stoked!
Heres a few pics cheers Mick
90gr E-Tip

Re: Winchester pre 64 243

The Winchester 70’s are sweet aren’t they, particularly in that caliber.

I love the Mauser sporters above all but I have a couple of 70’s and 54’s and always in danger of adding another.

fox broke from tee tree across arm of water waited for him to get to the edge, 180m shot. From clearing above tail.

wet look

pretty quiet rut, here. Doe taken late one morning. 100gr partition @ 12m

Nice fat back straps. Had the eye fillets grilled as soon as we got home Superb.

That's a nice looking fox fur. Maybe it's the water that has fluffed it up?

Re: Winchester pre 64 243

I was thinking the same thing about the 'winter' fur, however the back fur & top of the tail isn't wet, yet.

Re: Winchester pre 64 243

Congratulations again Mick, you lead the way; and hitting a fox at 180m in hunting conditions is really true marksmanship!
