For those who have been worrying about the future of Marlin, the future looks good. The first new rifle from Marlin Firearms is the 1895 SBL. I've had one for a bit more than a month and hunted with it during deer season. A feature article is coming, but for now I can tell you that I am impressed with what I've seen.

Hope they again make the 1895 with 22" bl. and preferably 24".
That's a nice rifle - in the blue with walnut and with the forend slimmed to meet the action.

Well, all I have is a model 76 .50/95 and model 86 in .45/70.
To me, they are more than just deer rifles, but I do concur, the ones they listed, if in .45 Colt, would made decent deer rifles.
Turnbull's guns are quite special.

I saw a Remington rolling block original the other day at a gun shop.. spendy..but man I've been thinking about that thing..

Dang.........they still didn't get rid of the cross-bolt.
A rebounding hammer would have covered the bases well but the cross bolt is detested by nearly all who own the new lever actions.

Now being a badass handgun owner, one day I would like a Foot six gun. A suitable lever action would be nice in the same.

Turnbulls are beautiful.. saw one at a local gun store this past summer.. very nice..
I dont have too many levers anymore as well..but occsional carry my 45/70 on my horse if riding into bear country.. or later in the fall in case I run into an elk or whatever.. plan to find an older model 1873 as some point.. in 45 LC to match my 1873 revolver..

The 73's are really nice.
The 76 is nicer - incredibly smooth action, shoots well, too.

No reason it couldn't be. Up to Ruger, I guess. I really liked my .458 Americans (2"). I had 3 of them over the years, first 2 on Mauser actions, VZ/34 and a Mark 10. The last one was on a Model 70A action.
My loads, when tried in a Siamese Mauser .45/70, gave identical velocities in a 24" bl. as I was getting in my 22" bl. with the 1/10" shorter case, however I did seat the bullets out considerably.
I feel they should not have made the .450 Marlin with the longer headspace than normal belted cases. Of course, that makes you need proprietary Marlin brass.

Believe it or not..the old Powderhorn had an original 1876 in their shop for sale today...

76's, no matter the condition, are pretty rich these days. Taylor and I were shooting an original 1876 in .45/75 back in the 70's, that came into his shop on a trade. Same thing with an 86 in .45/90. No, don't still have them.

Glad to see that Ruger came through. I have never owned a Marlin, but did fire one once-- seemed OK.
I grew up shooting Winchester rifles and have rarely broken the habit and I inherited that one- a M77 Ruger .338 tanger- a real keeper and killer.
I do like lever actions, but have only a few - from .357 Mag through 1886 45-90 (with matching DR).

Agree, glad to see Ruger is keeping up this product line..
I have a few as well.. bought a Marlin several years back in 45-70 that I keep in my camper trailer for bears and 2 legged vermin .. shoots really well.. handy on a horse...
Also have a marlin in 22 rimfire.. have not used it much as I prefer semi-autos in 22 rimfire.. especially when hunting gophers..
